Study Abroad
Students considering studying abroad should visit the Global Learning Office website for more information. Please plan accordingly to meet application deadlines.
Before going abroad, it is recommended that students pursuing the Business Institutions minor email the Business Institutions Academic Adviser, Patty FitzGibbons, to review their study abroad plans. Please email information on one or two course(s) you hope to apply towards the Business Institutions minor (this email should include the abroad school’s name, course titles, course descriptions, and website links to the courses). Courses are reviewed by the Kapnick Center, and students typically receive a response within 1-3 business days, advising if the selected course(s) are approved for credit towards the Business Institutions minor.
Upon returning from abroad and after you have received your official study abroad transcript, please fill out the Petition for WCAS Major/Minor Credit for Courses Taken Abroad and email it to Patty FitzGibbons (fitzgibbons@northwestern.edu). Please attach your official transcript to this email.
The Business Institutions minor will accept up to two study abroad credits towards the minor. To fulfill the requirements for the minor, students must successfully complete courses with a grade of C- or above.
Please note the following general policy for the Business Institutions minor: A maximum of one course that is either a non-Northwestern course, study abroad or a course offered by Northwestern’s School of Professional Studies (SPS) may count as one of the four Business Tools courses required for the minor (BUS_INST 301, 302, 303 or 304).
